LatinoReview.com has unearthed some of the details of the upcoming Predator reboot, entitled Predators, and has posted a few interesting details. To begin with, they confirm that the movie will indeed be directed by Nimród Antal and based on the screenplay originally written by Robert Rodriguez, Michael Finch, and Alex Litvak. It will also, as has been suspected, take place on the Predators' home planet.

The plot will follow the plight of eight characters who have been abducted by Predators, dropped into the jungle on the Predators' planet, and hunted as game. The characters are apparently selected for their combat skills, as they range from a Russian with a four-barrel machine gun to a Yakuza enforcer with a samurai sword. On the other side of the hunt, we will see Predator dogs, a Predator falcon, and a "Black Super Predator," described basically as a massive and extreme version of a normal Predator.

Based on their peek at the script, LatinoReview states that "the script is awesome, loaded with action," and may well be "a worthy sequel to the original Predator." They also strongly hinted at a cameo by Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was the lead man in the original Predator.

While the Predator films drastically lost their potency and entertainment value with the Alien vs. Predator series, Rodriquez's involvement in this reboot, coupled with the plot details LatinoReview gives us, provides reason to be optimistic. Rodriguez has proven himself capable of wielding plot elements like monsters and action dexterously, without relying on them to support the movie just by being shoved into it (which was the downfall of the Alien vs. Predator films). This is one we're willing to be excited about for now, despite what the past has given us.

Predators is set to be released during the summer of 2010.

Interesting premise

Hopefully it will be better than the AVP films. Maybe these two films will not be included in the “Predator” canon. This one sounds pretty good. Seeing the Predator’s home environment will be very interesting. It would be icing on the cake if Schwarzenegger makes a cameo.

I agree. The rational side of

I agree. The rational side of me is saying, "Don't get your hopes up," but my instinctual response is "AWESOME!"
