You know how Dimension films is planning a remake of Short Circuit? Well, here's more reason for you not to care: according to Variety, the studio has signed Steve Carr to direct it. Carr, primarily a director of comedies, has such films under his belt as Dr. Dolittle 2, Daddy Day Care, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

Short Circuit follows a robot named Johnny 5, which was designed for military use but gains a conscience after being hit by lightning. If there is any ray of hope for this remake, it is the fact that Robot Chicken writer Dan Milano has written the screenplay.

Short Circuit is scheduled for a 2011 release.
