'G.I. Joe' Director (Practically) Confirms "Dead" Character's Return in the Sequel

(Warning: spoilers for the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra)

It has been highly suspected that the character Storm Shadow would appear in the sequel to Stephen Sommers' G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, considering the actor who plays the role has signed on for followups to the film. We now pretty much have confirmation of the reappearance of Storm Shadow, in Sommers' commentary on the recently released DVD and Blu-ray of the movie. Beginning at the 1:39:40 mark, Sommers, when discussing the apparent death of the character at the hands of Snake Eyes, says "Snake Eyes missed [Storm Shadow's] heart purposely -- missed his vital organs. And when [Storm Shadow] falls back, his heart's beating, and he falls back into freezing cold water. So I'm already giving away something that might occur in a sequel."

So, he doesn't outright say it, but he gets pretty much as close as possible to confirming the character's return without officially announcing it. Bottom line: Storm Shadow will be back.
