J.J. Abrams to Produce Micronauts Movie

The Wall Street Journal has reported that J.J. Abrams, director of Cloverfield and the recent Star Trek prequel/reboot, is in talks with Hasbro to produce a Micronauts movie. Micronauts, which were miniature sci-fi action figures that could connect to one another, originated in Japan and were popular in the 1970s.

In the years since the toys' cancellation in 1980, Micronauts have been the subject of several comic book series, created by various publishers, including Marvel and Image Comics. There seems to be no telling what to expect from a feature film, especially at this early stage. While Abrams certainly lends the project some credence, we'll have to wait to see who is directing the film before we can make any major anticipations.
