Roland Emmerich: Prepare for an 'Independence Day' Invasion
MTV's Movies Blog recently spoke with Roland Emmerich, director of Independence Day and 2012, and Emmerich told them he has plans for two more Independence Day films.
There has been a good bit of talk about an Independence Day sequel around the web lately, but this is the first we've heard of two sequels. Emmerich told MTV, "What we want to do in the next -- it's actually two movies -- we want to do a bigger arc. ... Independence Day was always like the king who leads his troops into battle against an evil force, and that stays like that." He later elaborated, "It's always about earth and that earth gets invaded."
There is no script yet, but as for a title, the director suggested the possibility of calling them ID4-ever Parts I and II. *sigh*
In MTV's article, the reporter poses a few questions for us to ponder, such as "What's [Will] Smith's military man been up to?" and "Do the same alien baddies return, or do we get new ones?" I've got a more pressing question: Who cares?
