McTeigue Discusses Superman Film Possibilities
Despite an official word from DC/Warner Bros. back in September that there are no "current plans behind Superman," director James McTeigue recently told MTV's Splash Page that a new Superman movie is not out of the question.
According to McTeigue:
It's in a weird place at the moment. They're trying to work out what they're doing. Warner Brothers is trying to figure out their next move on it. There's some things you can do with the Superman franchise, there's other things you can't do. So it hasn't gone anywhere.
We noted back in September that it may be good that DC/Warner Bros. was scrapping Superman film plans, due to the legal tie-ups involving the character's origin story and the fact that the co-producers for the new film (when there was actually a new film planned) are not allowed to get near each other. Based on what McTeigue is saying, though, the movie may have a chance yet. However, McTeigue currently has another film on his plate (The Raven), so perhaps the air will have cleared by the time he makes it to Superman (assuming the next installment will eventually be made).
Below is a short clip from MTV's interview with McTeigue:
