Disney Wisely Rethinks '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' Remake

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

Variety reports that Disney's remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, annoyingly titled 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Captain Nemo, "has been halted indefinitely." Furthermore, director McG (Terminator Salvation) has been removed from the project even if it is eventually made.

It's hard to see a version of 20,000 Leagues directed by McG (and potentially starring Will Smith) turning out well. Disney probably made the right decision putting this one on the shelf for a while and eventually starting anew with it. Or maybe they should just leave it on the shelf.
