No 'Spider-Man 4' News, Except that It's Called 'Spider-M4n'

There was a bit of hooplah on the internet Thursday concerning Sam Raimi's fourth Spider-Man movie. IESB posted an article stating that the film was on "indefinite hold" following a studio-wide halt last Thursday on production. Furthermore, the site said that the film was in limbo because of an "incomplete script" due to director Sam Raimi and the studio clashing on ideas for its villain.

However, shortly thereafter, Superhero Hype debunked the rumor, reporting that the studio is "simply on hiatus for the holiday" and that production will continue next year on the film. The article claims that the film will still be opening on its scheduled release date of May 5, 2011.

IESB then ran an update saying, "Sony has contacted us this morning and they are denying the story." The website also backpedaled on their claim of an incomplete script, saying, "Yes, the filmmakers are working on the script, but there is nothing unusual about that at all, productions always are working and tweaking scripts right up until principal photography begins and that is still a few months away." IESB had also claimed that there was some contention between Raimi, who wants The Vulture to be the movie's villain and the studio, who does not. There has so far been no retraction of that particular bit of news.

So, Spidey fans can rest easy it seems. ... Oh, except for one thing: The working title of the movie is Spider-M4n. Ouch.
